November 7-8-9, 2008 - Ottawa, ON

Phoenix Rising – A Sacred Dance Retreat
Bells Corners United Church, OTTAWA
9:30 pm

Friday Nov. 7h –The weekend begins with a Friday Night Drum Circle. A time in the "now" where we will move from and between wild abandon and quiet reflection. Friday Night is open to any and all to come together and just 'BE' in the moment and in the experience!

Saturday Nov. 8th – 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 – p.m. - We are so privileged to have dancer Claire Elizabeth Barratt (from London., England, via New York City and North Carolina) and Shakuhachi Zen Flute Player Debbie Danbrook (from Toronto via Japan and other esoteric spaces as yet unnamed!) with us to facilitate what will be a day of exploration of every sense we have! Claire & Debbie will take us through a full day using the theme of "Pheonix Rising" and energies patterned after the 5 Sacred Rhythms of Flowing, Staccato, Chaos, Lyrical and Stillness where movement and meditations are organically guided through a journey of discovery. A day dedicated to you - Mind, Body and Soul!

Sunday Nov. 9th – 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. – (Optional) An opportunity for those attending the Saturday workshop to participate at the Morning Service at Bells Corners United Church. The Saturday workshop will include a portion of the movement practice of 'Motion Sculpture' as developed by Claire Elizabeth Barratt. From that workshop we will create a movement piece that will become the prelude for the Sunday Remembrance Day Service at Bells Corners United Church. A meaningful and inspirational way to transform sacred dance from the experience of participants in a workshop to a sharing with others.

Cost is $85.00 ($75.00 for Sacred Dancd Guild members) includes continental breakfast and lunch on Saturday and all other workshop costs.

Shakuhachi meditations under the cherry blossoms in the temples, gardens and castles of Japan.

The 2009 JAPAN TRIP is shaping up well. A marvellous week of Shakuhachi Meditations at all the best spots - Temples, Gardens and Castles! We are aiming for the Cherry Blossoms and our dates are March 24 to April 1. We will be a very small group and we already have four participants so please let me know if you are interested and I can send you more details. So far our itinerary includes The Daibutsu (Big Buddha) at Yokohama, Nagoya Castle, Osaka highlights and my favourite temple in all of Japan - Hozanji in Ikoma; temples and sites at Nara and Kyoto, plus lots of musical treats. Wow. (You don't have to play Shakuhachi to come.)
